Description of the Land
|
This tract is one of the last remaining large-acreage undeveloped properties adjoining the W. Kerr Scott Reservoir (1,475 acres of water) along the Yadkin River. This location is an excellent combination of timberland investment and recreational property with future development potential. The tract is all wooded with a mixture of mature hardwood and pine timber and adjoins the Corps of Engineers' land surrounding W. Kerr Scott Reservoir for approximately 7,400 feet. The tract also has over 1,800 feet of frontage on both sides of Marley Ford Road and over 3,800 feet of frontage on the south side of Red Top Road.
The tract is located at the intersection of Red Top Road (SR 1148) and Rest Home/Marley Ford Road (SR 1150) on the north side of the western end of the W. Kerr Scott Reservoir. It is further identified as Wilkes Co. Tax Parcel 0900385 and the legal description is found in Wilkes County Deed Book 96 at page 154. A 1990 survey of the tract is available.
The topography is flat to rolling as you approach the Yadkin River and its tributary. The Corps controls all land surrounding the reservoir to the 1,080-foot contour level and restricts land-disturbing activities within this strip of land as you approach the water. The property is not currently zoned for dock access to the reservoir; however, that designation is subject to review by the Corps. Additional information regarding lake access is available at . |

From Wilkesboro, NC, take US Highway 421 north towards Boone, NC. Approximately 6 miles northwest of Wilkesboro, turn left on Rest Home Road (NC State Road 1625) and drive 2 miles to the intersection with Red Top Road. (Rest Home Road becomes Marley Ford Road at intersection.) The tract is on both sides of Marley Ford Road and the south side of Red Top Road.
